York South Weston MPP urges Ford to act with urgency in restoring eye care

YORK SOUTH—WESTON — NDP MPP Faisal Hassan asked Doug Ford how much longer children and seniors will have to wait for restored access to vision care during question period Tuesday, urging the government to act with urgency and provide optometrists with adequate funding for their services.

"My office has been flooded with letters and calls from families whose children and elders are suffering right now from no access to vision care," Hassan said.

"The Liberals delisted routine eye exams from OHIP back in 2004, and now the Ford government is continuing that legacy of cuts, leaving optometrists in Ontario to trail the rest of the country in receiving fair compensation for their professional services.

"When is the Ford government going to make a serious attempt to put an end to this unnecessary situation and act with the urgency that is required to restore critical services to children and seniors?"
